Trade Secrets

The Trade Secrets web site is actually a documentary in its own right, giving viewers access to the hundreds of documents from the chemical industry’s private archive. In addition to summarizing and updating the film’s stories, the site also features many interactive tools and graphics, such as an animation which illustrates a hypothetical path of a PCB molecule as it travels from Alabama to the Svalbard Islands. Perhaps most important for a film intended to publicize what an industry has tried to keep secret from the public, the Web site served as a rallying point for the audience. Thousands of viewers posted to its bulletin board in the hours, days and weeks following the documentary.
